Nileshwar is the cultural capital of Kasaragod. It\u2019s a place filled with Theyyam, Rituals, Sacred Forest Groves known as \u2018Kavu\u2019 and a rich reminiscence of the past. A little away from the Nileshwar Town is the beautiful river side village of Achamthuruthi. On the side of Achamthuruthi, the famous Balagokulam Sri Vishnumurthi Temple is situated. Lying around the bridge, near to the banks are a number of collection of beautifully crafted Houseboats. It was the Kerala Tourism Department who kicked started the luxury of Houseboats in the waters of Thejaswini River. A littler ahead, the waters of the Thejaswini River are called the Karyamkode River. Though Karyamkode River trails have a wonderful sight for tourists, the hindrance created by the century old metal bridge make it impossible for large houseboats to cruise in the direction of Karyamkode.
\nHouseboat cruising starts from the Deck at Achamthuruthi and head to the Valiyaparamba Backwaters for a day long cruise. Valiyaparamba Backwaters is the pride of Kasaragod and is tagged as one of the best scenic backwaters available in Kerala. Flooded by 4 rivers this backwater includes many small islands in its possession. Nowadays this scenic area provides houseboat facility to cruise through the natural lake beauty.
